Story

Jerry Gryante is or better was a prodigy of the wealthy Gryante family an their respective business back on earth, specializing in medical and agricultural "creative" solutions. One of the advertised goals of the Gryante Corporation indeed was to find novel food supplies. These include "new" crops like insect and mushroom farms, which might be harvested on small asteroids and even earth itself. However, the portfolio of the Gryante Corporation soon evolved beyond that field and now also encompasses basic medical and chemical products. Even if the official channels still emphasis the beneficial character of the corporation, rumors did not stop that Gryante also deals in some shady business as well.

Jerry Gryante is the youngest of three children. His father Thomas Gryante currently leads the Gryante Corporation in third generation after inheriting the mantle of CEO from Jerry's grandfather. Thomas indeed was and still is a very strict man, putting great expectations on his children and "encouraging" them to "live up to the name". Both Jerry's sibling Olivia and John were able to live up to this high standard, Jerry not so much.

Jerry always preferred a spoiled and lavish lifestyle, keeping his escapades hidden from his family for the longest times. Parties and gambling were his favorite hobbies. This combined with his admittedly snobbish attitude did not exactly grant him a lot of real friendships. This he would encounter the hard way, when his father finally got wind of his allures and disowned him in front of his own family.

This is when Jerry vowed to "life up to the name" in his own way. However reality hit him hard, as his former circle of friends where all to eager to abandon the now poor Gryante heir. He lived from day to day for some time, using his gambling abilities to keep him aloof. This reality check striped him of some his former snobby attitude (you can't convince people, when you talk down to them). At least that is, what Gryante thinks of himself.

He recently Roldy Greenett after one of his gambling rounds in a bar. He first encountered him during one of his former "friends" birthday parties as an entertainer. They drank together and Greenett told him, he would hire for C&C. More as a joke Jerry applied for C&C as well: They both filed the application on this very night in the bar. To his surprise, he was accepted as a new employee of C&C. Jerry realized, this was the first time he was employed in a business not owned by one of his family members. Seeing this as a sign he enrolled with C&C. Perhaps this is a way to won up to the family name?

Apperance

Jerry Gryante is about 1,73m in height with short brown hair and brown eyes. His clothes normally composes of things he can afford, which means they are functional but have seen better times as Jerry himself.

Jerry has a knack for improvisation and always trusts his gut feelings. And he is sure that even his situation seems dire for now, cats always land on their feed, right. He just needs a little bit of luck. And his social skills will surely help him to win a few new real friends. Who would not want to be friends with Jerry, right?

Even if Jerry does not admit it, he does not have any deep insight into the Gryante family business. However, he heard from his siblings and father of some "medical transactions" regarding the Corporation. Something not in the books, but that is all he knows...

Jerry would never admit it, but his father gave him the opportunity to amend for his "transgressions". However in his pride Jerry denied this opportunity due to his fathers manipulative ways (or more to his own pride to be honest) ...

Reflection

Jerry is still recovering from the latest encounters with some “friends”. The latest adventure hurt more than he liked to admit and some scars will definitely remain. Perhaps it is time to rethink some approaches and plan a little ahead? Better look out that there are no more interferences from the outside regarding the work of Cat and Canary. At least if Jerry can help it! And these interferences seem to always involve some big corporation. Take Crystal Clear for example. Even if Crystal Clear is dealt with for now, there are still trouble makers left. For example the Gryante Corporation, Jerry cannot shake the feeling, that there is more behind their proposal to fund Cat & Canary. Better go and hunt some rumors regarding Gryante Corp and its latest involvement on Medina Station. And as people say, you can choose your friends, but not your family.

Doubts

Jery is not known for beeing very subtle. Or for reflecting on his deeds. However, the last encounter on New Egypt left him wondering: Perhaps his entaglement with the Gryante Coorporation hurt more people than just him? This really leaves a bad taste in Jerry's mouth. Perhaps it is time to talk to the family again. Especially as some members are obviously on medina station. Perhaps it is time to do, what he always wanted to avoid: Strike a bargain with them. But on his own terms, of course. As long as it keeps the Gryante Coorporation of his heels. And perhaps he can also strike a deal for the settlers on new Egypt. Might be a good idea to look into the claim Gryante stakes to new Egypt. He wil be damned, if there is not some shady stuff involved. Time to polish his "negotian" skills (both oratory and with a pistol) and fish for some rumors.

Be aware

Jerry had a lot to think about from the latest „Jobs“ from Cat and Canary: Fighting of Space Pirates, uncovering a murder plots, and dealing with potentially hub space destroying catatsrophies. Chatting with obvious cosmic beeings was one of the more interesitng parts besides dealing with his family. Jerry hoped thatthings might cool down eventually, but that was obviously not the case. Better to be prepard for what might await him. Better to be a bit more prepared and aware of the people around him. At least now he nows, that many have tzheir own skeletons in t heir closets. And knwoing that might at least spare him a few bullets in the future.Things are definitly going to be more complicated in the future. But this might be opportunity Jerry is waiting for to pürove himself. After all he is working for Cat and Canary.
