Kale is a rather quiet man in his late thirties. His already greying, dark, curly hair, brown eyes and skin point to mediterranean ancestry. Not that this would matter much to Kale who doesn't talk a lot, least of all about himself. "Belter as they come" is the only thing he says when in his cups at the Stardust or Golden Cage on Medina Station about his background and family. Kale doesn't mind getting his hands dirty for sure and is quite good at lifting cargo and other heavy stuff. He also makes no secret of the fact that he has worked for the Gryante Corporation "to make ends meet" for some time in the past. But he quit due to them exploiting Belter settlers of the new colonies by keeping them in debt while the company makes use of their backbreaking pioneer work to fill its coffers. Kale has no trust in big companies, politicians and grand ideas for the future of mankind anymore - or so he claims. He came to Cat and Canary a few years ago to work on projects of a smaller-scale and to see if cooperative and syndicalistic structures suit him better. So far that seems to be the case.

And Kale's work and talents suit the company because there is hardly anything that Kale cannot build or fix - be it the hulls of space ships, thrusters, drones and radio technology. Kale seems more at ease with machines than with people, when there is a practical problem to solve or when he can tinker with his tools to build or fix devices. So it is not really a surprise that he and the withdrawn Igor Yadaf get along quite well. They can often be seen talking shop about Igor's prospecting missions and Kale seems happy to build or fix Igor's gear for these. Is that just because of their similar temperament and interests or has Kale not really given up on colonisation and planetary pioneer work after all?
