Ryker

Ryker is a belter of about 20 years who lost his parents at a young age. He doesn't remember them, but he knows that they have fallen during the war. He had to take care of himself somehow since then, so it is no wonder that he did not only legal things to survive. After two years loitering around, he met The Great Zed - one of the most famous magicians of the belt. Zed took care of Ryker for the next four years before he passed away. Ryker learned many magic tricks from him and improves his magic skills since then whenever he has time. So, he mastered one of the hardest tricks, "The Asteroid Belt". His magic skills could also help him survive. He could make a bit of money with it, and he could steal things without anybody's notice. When Ryker got older, he did many different jobs to get some income. He really liked the job as bar tender, as he could show off the skills he learned as a magician when preparing cocktails. But he didn't want to get old in a bar. Instead, he wanted to see the wonders of the galaxy and looked for jobs where he had the opportunity to travel.

The Asteroid Belt Trick

In this extremely difficult magic trick, a volunteer (who wears a belt) joins the magician. The Magician show five miniature-asteroids (each on a rope with a hook) and puts them into a box.

The volunteer (and all spectators) are asked to look after the box, so that nobody - especially not the magician - touches it again.

The magician then performs some other tricks with the volunteer.

Then he reminds everyone about the box and the asteroids. The magician opens the box: There are no asteroids in the box, but a belt. It is the belt of the volunteer. The asteroids hang on the belt loops of the volunteer.

-- This trick was invented by The Great Zed. He was the only one who ever performed it in front of spectators. Ryker can also do the trick with a volunteer, but he doesn't feel comfortable performing it in front of other spectators yet.
